Everything Now

Have you ever felt like you wanted to have everything now? Have you ever thought about how easier it would be if you just had all the right answers and you were already living your dream life? I think about that often. Sometimes I feel like I would be more motivated if I was far ahead in the future, being the me that has already achieved everything I ever wanted to. I wrote a list of accomplishments I wanted to achieve by a certain age early last year. The first was to be interviewed on National television about my platform and career by 16, so that I could be more recognised by the public. I didn’t create my flashmob for the sole purpose of achieving this goal, but I later realised that this would probably check it off the list. Now my flashmob has been postponed to later this year, because I need more people to produce the effect, the wave, I know this event can create.
The most important lesson I’ve learned and believed in for some time is that everything happens for a reason. Fate is the sum of all the choices you have made; it is the destiny you write by your hand, not an external force as many believe it to be. Every single life decision you have made has led you to this very moment. It has made you who you are, and every realisation brings you closer to your inevitable awakening.
When we are desperate to have it all it is because we think that we do not have enough inside. This external and eternal search for something to fill our cup is ironically what leaves it empty. If we leave our present selves in search of the future, who will be here to create it? You must understand that if you want it all, you have to create it for yourself.
That being said, do not force it. The saying ‘good things come to those who wait’ is true to a certain extent. Let me explain. Because of this need to have it all now, we often act upon impulse, and I’m sure many of you know that this doesn’t always end well. For example, I could just go ahead with the flashmob with the people I have now, but it wouldn’t produce the effect I’m trying to create. I am continuing to create instead of expecting and wanting to reap the benefits of something that I know can be better. My work is more important than a deadline or any expectation I set for myself to be on TV or be famous so early on in my life.
But it’s also important to understand the difference between extending something and avoiding it. If all you do is wait for something great to happen then it’s likely that nothing will happen at all. You will know deep down when you aren’t actually planning on continuing and instead are avoiding doing what you need to do because of fear. It is at this point that you must ask yourself, ‘How can I progress and create something great in the process?’
It is okay to reschedule something. Trust the process and your personal timeline. It is okay to be who you are whoever that may be right now. If you are aspiring to have a successful career or achieve a certain goal, you do not need to define yourself by that. You can simply be a person, the person you are now. I say this because I know how much of a burden it can be to believe that you are destined for greatness, and to feel like you need to do or achieve something in this lifetime. But our motives, goals, and desires are everchanging. You do not need to define yourself by who you were in the past or who you will be in the future. You are you now and that’s enough. Learn to love yourself not only for your traits but for existing.
There is a balance that must be maintained of both living in the moment and dreaming of the future. If you can find that balance, you will be at peace with all timelines, grateful and loving of the life you lead.
