Key to Success: Passion

“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” – Mark Twain

Passion is what ignites us and gives us meaning. Passion is at the very core of our being, and it is this passion that shows us who we truly are. That’s why it is so important to know what lights that fire in our soul and to allow ourselves to keep it burning. I have always believed success is subjective which is evident in many of my previous articles and the content that I upload. So, it’s natural that I want to encourage you to pursue your passion to be successful in your life. I also understand that the ways of the world can be intense and often tell you the complete opposite, so I’ll break it down for you.

The Cambridge dictionary describes the word ‘success’ as:

“the achieving of the results wanted or hoped for”

The second definition is:

“something that achieves positive results”

Now taking this into account along with most of society’s ideals, it’s easy to see how being on top of the corporate ladder seems ‘successful’ and it is, but it doesn’t always achieve ALL areas of success, especially if something vital is missing: passion. Even if you believe success can only be achieved by being the best or earning a large sum of money, you cannot tell me that your own happiness doesn’t fit into the equation. It’s simple: when we feel accomplished and content, we feel successful, and when we feel successful by OUR OWN standards, we ARE successful.

If you want to take ownership of your life and live it to the fullest, even if you don’t believe it’s possible, you’ll want to reach success in ALL the areas of your life you value, most especially your own happiness and satisfaction. So, I encourage you to find a way and to always be not only looking but CREATING the life you are truly meant to lead.

I believe we all exist for our own reasons and that we all have different lessons to learn presented to us in different situations and even people. I love the quote for this article,

“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” – Mark Twain.

I believe that our existence is not for no reason. No matter what you believe in, even if you believe it’s a total coincidence, isn’t it such a crazy and fascinating one? Life. And creation.

Passion is both natural motivation and inspiration and it makes us the most excited. I believe that in order for there to be order in the world, we need to pursue the things that we love that benefit both ourselves and society.

PASSION is the core. It shows us who we are, what we value, what we believe in, and it IS what we should pursue. However, the main reason that many don’t feel that success in their passion is possible is because they aren’t open to change, creation, nor the opportunity to do it differently.

As you probably already know, about four years ago, when I was in primary school, I struggled with my mental health. I didn’t know how to help myself and couldn’t find help in others. Nevertheless, I wanted to help others. So, naturally, I turned to psychology as my future career, but it never felt completely right. I knew that there was more to what I could be doing and that working in a clinic maybe wasn’t the right path for me. When I read Dr Joe Dispenza’s book Becoming Supernatural, I realised what I was missing. Now, although I am still very early in my career, I know that what I want to do is so much bigger, and you know what? It still involves psychology; it still involves helping people, but in a way that suits me better – a way that suits my definition of success better. I took my passion and channelled it into something that satisfies me.

So, what I’m saying is, if your passion is dancing, art, science, etc, that doesn’t mean your only option is whatever job you first associate with them, and with the rise of social media, technology, and entertainment, your fear of taking risks may be holding you back from finding the right pathway.

I know there is little stability in my future, at least objectively, but subjectively, in my heart, I know that it is my passion that will find success in anything that I choose to do, and it is that confidence that tells me I am already successful – because I know who I am and who I strive to be. That’s the power of passion.

Materialistic values are temporary and with the rise in the cost of living and much more chaos in the world, we need to set our sights on the essence of our being: love. Sound silly? It’s true.

Bit of a sideline - I know my articles are extremely subjective and aren’t exactly instruction manuals. Someone I know asked for more articles on success and I told him it was very subjective and quite a broad subject – which it is. So, when I speak about success and how important passion is, I’m not just speaking about the success of an individual. I’m talking about the success of the world.

I will not sit here and tell you how to achieve success in the world society has built, but I will tell you how to achieve it in the world that I and many others are working towards. The only way we can stop the world from becoming totally corrupt is to finally understand that it is not just us.

In my last article, I told you about how I read some articles on individualism in the self-help industry, and it’s gotten me thinking recently. We need to bring humanity together. Not only that but we need to understand that what lights us up CAN create change in not just our lives but the rest of the world’s.

And with all of this, I am not telling you that passion is the only way to be successful, you can be ‘successful’ in a boring job that earns you a ton of money, if that’s your definition of success, but I want you to know that humanity has the ultimate gift – the ability to feel, the ability to create, the ability to connect with others on a profound level. So, however you define your success, I can only hope that it is something that keeps that light inside of you burning and helps keep others’ burning too.
