Your Time to Shine

Last weekend, I went to Miroslav Bardović’s ‘Embodied Sales’ training. If you remember, about a year ago, I wrote an article titled, ‘Key to Success: Enlivened Speaking’ where I talked about my experience at Miroslav’s one-day event, ‘IGNITED: Unleash Your Speaker Power’ and his three-day ‘Fully Alive’ speaker training. I was lucky enough to join him and a group of amazing people over the weekend in what was probably one the best in my life so far. I have cried at every event of Miroslav’s I’ve been to. His events cultivate such an empowering environment that allows individuals to be vulnerable, giving their true selves the spotlight, and a place to express themselves. In less than hour of being there, I was already in that vulnerable state and in less than an hour, I knew what I was selling. In the days leading up to the event, I had no idea, but when Miroslav said we each to had to pitch what we were selling, I had until the mic got to me to think of it – and I did.
As of now, I have launched a workshop for high school students to learn how to cultivate their passion and express themselves. I had thought of a similar idea last year. It was originally a free event that I planned to hold at my school. I made a word document and pitched the idea to those in authority. No response. I did nothing about it. When I pitched to the right people, I made two sales in less than two minutes. I made money. I made progress. I actually did something.
Here's the thing. I used to be one of those people who wondered how the hell some people could sell trainings or workshops or coaching for so much money. I always wanted to do my work for free because I thought it should be free. But what I’ve learned is, without that investment, without that energy, people will likely not benefit or even listen. Truth is, not everyone is going to listen. Not everyone is going to want what you have to offer. It’s kind of like if you wanted to sell a luxury car for free. Most people would probably think it was scam or that there was something wrong with the car. Price what you are WORTH, and the right people will buy.
What I’m also leaning more into is that it is OKAY to make a liveable wage. I’ve seen and experienced firsthand how events like these can truly change people's lives. It is through these events amongst other things that I plan to expand my business to make my work and what I believe in accessible to all people, but that’s not going to happen overnight.
Another thing I loved about the training was this really cool music session we did. We were all in a circle singing and each one of us got a turn to express and improv something in the middle. This was a very emotional activity and seeing grown women and men cry and be vulnerable like that is something so special, and beautiful, and heartfelt. No matter how much we age, we are still little kids inside. The weight of being on the entrepreneurial path of humanity’s development feels burdening. I can personally attest to that. It’s hard. But for many, including me, it’s our soul work. It’s what we need to do for ourselves and for others.
Even if you aren’t on this journey, it’s hard for so many people. We are all still figuring it out and that’s okay. You don’t have to decide everything now. But in some cases, you do need to make a choice because many of you might actually know what you need to be doing to keep going, to make your next move. So, my advice to you is to just do it. My event started out as something non-existent and now I’ve made it the real thing. It’s not going to be easy and it’s scary and new, but it’s mine. It’s next move.
